Shepton Mallet and District Chamber of Commerce We have represented the interests of the business and local community of the district since 1777.
Our members include sole traders and international companies with the common intention of making Shepton Mallet and district a more prosperous and better place to live and work. If you want a representative voice locally, to influence events, membership of the Chamber is a must. Exciting Times With the present influx of new energy and new money into the town, this is one of the most exciting times in Shepton's history - ever. There are relocations and innovations, new ventures and new businesses: a great deal of change in a short space of time. Change Huge changes are on the way. Wisdom and wise counsel are essential. Decisions made now will affect the local area for decades, possibly centuries. If you want the ability to influence these changes, consider and discuss their likely effect, you need to be a member of the Chamber. Opportunities Shepton Mallet is the only Mendip town included in the Market and Coastal Towns regeneration initiative sponsored by the South West Regional Development Agency. There are enthusiastic teams within the District and Town Councils together with Shepton 21, a group especially formed to work towards regeneration in Shepton Mallet. There are many openings which must be grasped creatively. The Chamber is prepared for these and your business can be too - if you have a voice. The Chamber's Rôle With a strong tradition of civic responsibility, the Chamber has acted as a business forum and as a pressure group, a primary lobby representing the needs of our members with all levels of government. Now, our role is extending to meet the new challenges locally and we will become a key partner in the business and commercial regeneration of the district. Collectively, we will have a profound influence on the direction taken. Join us! We hope you enjoy our site and find it useful. |
